Artist's Description
This is a study of an Aboriginal elder that was used in a larger painting that ultimately won second prize in an exhibition a few years ago. The art contest was the first I had entered and I was excited but terrified as well. The larger painting was based on the title "Spirit of the bay" a concept that was the brief for the contest, about Jervis Bay, NSW, Australia. This painting was subsequently sold.
About Anne Gardner
I live in the South East of Australia, in the beautiful Shoalhaven, where I find inspiration for my landscapes; with beaches, farmlands, mountains, valleys and bush all within easy reach. I like to vary my work and have also painted portraits, seascapes and some abstracts. My main medium is acrylic but I have become proficient in watercolour. I have won prizes in various art contests and have sold work in exhibitions in the local area, and have also sold internationally to New Zealand, the USA and Great Britain. You have captured the character of this man very well with his weather beaten face.
