This is a painting of Rangitoto, a volcano island that sits in the heart of Auckland's harbour. It look much the same when viewed from most localities around the harbour. The trees are Pohutukawas , lovely red flowering trees, known as New Zealands Christmas tree. The flax in the foreground is also a New Zealand native.
I live in the South East of Australia, in the beautiful Shoalhaven, where I find inspiration for my landscapes; with beaches, farmlands, mountains, valleys and bush all within easy reach. I like to vary my work and have also painted portraits, seascapes and some abstracts. My main medium is acrylic but I have become proficient in watercolour. I have won prizes in various art contests and have sold work in exhibitions in the local area, and have also sold internationally to New Zealand, the USA and Great Britain.
