Artist's Description

This painting is of the Shoalhaven river , upstream fro where I live. It is an idyllic scene complete with a kookaburra patiently waiting for a fish or lizard to appear. The water appears brownish, because of the tannin in the water from the gumtrees, but it is clear and pure.

I live in the South East of Australia, in the beautiful Shoalhaven, where I find inspiration for my landscapes; with beaches, farmlands, mountains, valleys and bush all within easy reach. I like to vary my work and have also painted portraits, seascapes and some abstracts. My main medium is acrylic but I have become proficient in watercolour. I have won prizes in various art contests and have sold work in exhibitions in the local area, and have also sold internationally to New Zealand, the USA and Great Britain.
